A question to all. Does ff.net's file manager keep the format of your file after you have uploaded it? Mine does not. All italics and bolded words get reset to normal, and it is... inconvenient. Previously I had to go through the fic again after uploaded, in order to put back in the italics and bold and page breaks but... The next fic I am planning to upload is a little long.

What format/file type do you upload as to keep the formatting? I tried .doc, .htm, .html to no avail.

I don't have that problem but I haven't upload a fic to FF.Net in a long while so it could be a glitch on their part. I use .doc or if I'm at my work place, I used .wpd for the files.

I upload in Firefox, and .doc (from MS Word 2000).

It seems to keep everything but the first set of words (in my case, the title). It generally resets to regular text.

But italics within the story usually stay the same for me. HOWEVER, I check or at least skim it over to make sure, because, heck, I don't trust FFN.

I've had issues before, using Firefox and Chrome and a .wps format.

I don't use italics very often, but if I do, I check through before I publish.

I've used firefox and .rtf for years and never have problems*. (In fact I highly recommend .rtf in general, as it's not nearly as annoying as .doc can get.)

* Though after I insert a horizontal line break between my header and my title (which I usually have both bolded and underlined as well as centered), it does strip the underline from the title. Other than that though, it keeps everything. (And it does keep the underline until I insert the linebreak.)

I use the ODT format (Open Office) to upload to FFN, and that seems to upload error-free most of the time.
